Department of Education Surveys Child Care Providers About 2k-3k Program

The Department of Education recently sent out a notice for a Request For Information (RFI) about the new 2k-3k educational program, which will be provided for Family and Group Family Daycares since the children enrolled will be pre-school age.  The request included an application for those interested in the program. It also included sign up information for an Info Session. 

Although the RFI was sent to all daycare programs in New York State, the Info Session was only attended by a fraction of those who received the information.  BOC is passing this along for your information. You can participate in this program in three ways: by starting your own Network, joining an existing Network, or reaching out to your current Network. 

Notable qualifications required for forming a 2k-3k Daycare Network include: the proposed Owner will need to be a business certified as a Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) and have significant experience in the field of childcare, as well as educational credentials.The application to form a new Network was due in February, those approved will get a link in their approval email. 

For anyone who can satisfy these requirements, this is an excellent opportunity to keep an eye on, because there will be further updates about program availability.
